Laser / Fabrication Team Member Electro-Mechanical Industries, Inc. (EMI), a family-owned custom manufacturer located in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. EMI has 43 years of steady growth and product innovation, provides products and services to commercial customers in the Midwest Region. The Laser / Fabrication team member will support fabrication operations by processing sheet steel for shearing to project specifications. The fabrication team member will set-up operate equipment located in the fabrication department such as state of the art Laser, shear, punches and press. This operator will use all available resources to perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner. The right individual will be flexible as working hours may occasionally extend beyond regular business hours. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • Assemble, repair and fabricate custom metal parts by operating mechanical equipment such as Laser, Shears, Automated punches, Press Brake, and other fabrication equipment. • Utilizes designs and plans to assure proper dimensions and tolerances are achieved. • Works closely with other team members and the department lead and/or Production Supervisor. • Open bundles of materials with cutters, sorting stock, responsible for measuring/confirming size, type and thickness. • Communicate and coordinate with team members to sustain a quality finished product that meets or exceeds EMI drawings and specifications. • Must be able to measure dimensions and compare to drawing specifications. • Maintains a safe and clean working environment and adheres to procedures, codes and safety regulations. • Other duties as assigned to meet customer requirements including, mechanical assembly. One-week offsite training in the Chicago area will be provided for the Mazak Laser. Physical Demands: • This position is required to routinely lift up to 50 lbs., repeatedly throughout the shift. • Stand for extended periods of time. • Continually perform a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending over, crouching, lifting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Personal Protective Equipment: • Steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves. Work Environment: • Work is performed in a custom manufacturing production facility with typical manufacturing noise. • Exposed to shop elements such as noise and dust. Work Hours: Typical hours for this position are Monday – Friday from 6 am to 2:30 pm. However, to complete job duties and deadlines, this position may require overtime and/or working at non-regular hours as needed. Salary and Benefits: The base salary range for this position is $22-$28 per hour. This position will be responsible for verifying effective corrective action is implemented to resolve the root cause of discrepancies, support quality metrics generation and reporting, and cause and effect analysis. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses to assess assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems. The Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement Tech position is a non-Union position and reports directly to the Process Manufacturing Manager. Essential Job Duties: • Documents internal complaints (CAR’s) and creates quality scorecards to reflect the proper root cause. • Analyzing quality data to identify, recommend and lead proactive processes to reduce and prevent recurrence of non-conformances. • Assisting the quality teams on QA activities and continuous improvement activities. • Conducting reviews of customer complaints (NCR’s) and assist with proactive processes to reduce Non-conformances. • Assist in written processes, SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and DOP (Detailed Operating Procedures). • Work with QA to ensure completion of all QA checks are done correctly, from raw material and parts to the final products. • Assist with regular daily inspections in each area of the manufacturing process. • Assist with final inspection of all products before the product is shipped and all documentation has been completed. • Gaining knowledge about our products and applying that knowledge to improve processes and practices. • Involved with BOM review and documenting any deviations. Competencies: • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced, custom manufacturing environment. • Strong work ethic with a positive attitude. • Ability to effectively communicate well with others in English, both verbally and in writing. • Must be able to multi-task with a strong attention to detail. Responsible for the performance of Power Systems Applications on the Energy Management System (EMS) and Training Simulator. This software-based platform monitors power system assets, allows for physical control of those assets, and processes power system data for real-time decision making by operations personal. This application is one of the critical tools supporting the reliability of the electric system. Maintain and update the real time node-breaker oriented power system models for the internal EMS and for Minnesota Powers’ portion of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) real-time EMS model. Evaluate performance of base case power flow solution to reduce and eliminate errors and deficiencies. Review state estimator and contingency analysis for completeness and reasonability to ensure reliability under all potential scenarios. Ensure compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards and provide evidence of compliance. Coordinate data for ICCP data exchange with MISO and develops external equivalent models for systems outside of MP. Serve as training resource in area(s) of expertise. Develop engineering standards balancing corporate and customer needs. Provide engineering expertise for internal and external customers including operators, IT, management, and others.
